FELTED HATS AND SCARVES
"The primary focus of my work has been felted hats and scarves that incorporate many different fibers, beads, and fabric"
Carol’s mother taught her to knit as a young child from her mother, so, when her husband and she acquired her first llamas in 1985, it was a natural progression to spinning and knitting their fiber. Their small farm bred for fine fiber over the years and their aging small herd of llamas is still producing some beautiful fleeces. Felting entered the picture in the mid-eighties when her sister and partner in fiber crime, Drin Welker, took our first felting class.
The sisters were partners in their own small business, Hat in Hand, for some time and have also taught felting in various venues over the years. The primary focus of her work has been felted hats and scarves that incorporate many different fibers, beads and fabric. Over the years, she has produced everything from bags, baby shoes, animals and decorative objects and is am enjoying felting more than ever. She currently consigns her work to several galleries for sale.
