Zipper Bags
ZIPPER POUCHES AND HANDBAGS
"Before becoming a ‘bag lady,’ I was a weaver. So I'm drawn to fabrics that have texture, depth, and fine detail."
Why carry an ordinary bag when you can have a work of art?
While working as a film producer and librarian, Suella also pursued fiber artwork as personal expression in her free time. She acquired her first loom from my cousin, Everett Gilmore, a California loom maker, and started weaving everything from small pillows to large rugs. Along the way, she also explored knitting, crochet, basketry and beadwork, which led her to her latest passion, making bags that match the personality of the wearer. Use them to carry cell phones, cash, receipts or tickets to the opera!
Process:
Suella chooses upcycled fabrics, vintage cottons, luxury couture fibers, and graphic textiles, and pairs them with dramatic lining choices to create one-of-a-kind zipper bags and purses.
