Marcella Castro-LaughlinMarcella Castro-Laughlin
Handweaver

Although Marcella is a bit shy about labeling herself as an "artist", those who know the abundant variety of handwoven pieces she has created have no doubt about her artistic expertise!

Marcella was born in Minnesota and has been a Sebastopol resident since 1948.Bitten by the weaving bug in 1981, Marcella has become known for her curious attitude when it comes to weave patterns, color combinations, and textures. Marcella is willing to weave just about anything and loves a challenge but she especially enjoys creating her rag rugs and rag totes from their many strips of colorful hand-cut fabric! Tartan fabric and various patterned bookmarks are also high on her list of favorite items to weave. Anyone who has received the gift of one of Marcella's precious handwoven bookmarks knows that it is a treasure as soon as they have one in hand. You can find Marcella in her weaving studio working on her latest "what if" project almost every day of the week.
